What is a Community of practice?

What is a community practice?

Let's watch this video. It will help us clarify your thoughts.

Reasons for participating in a professional learning community.

Coyle (2010) makes the case that professional learning communities can help improve classroom instruction in CLIL contexts.

  1. Learning communities offer teachers a place to reflect on and learn from their own practice, something that is more difficult to do on your own.
  2. The internet offers teachers the opportunity to connect with other professionals who share the same goals and needs in a safe environment.
  3. Collective intelligence and social capital are the backbone of these professional learning communities. Sharing and developing knowledge collaboratively are what makes these communities useful.
  4. Professional learning communities offer both moral support and multiple perspectives on challenging individual cases.
